1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) to remember information between visits. They're a standard part of how the modern web works.
On LocalSaathi, cookies let us keep you signed in between sessions, remember your city preference, and understand which features are useful. We don't use them to track you across the wider internet.
2. Types of cookies we use
Strictly Necessary
REQUIRED- Session token — keeps you logged in
- CSRF protection — blocks cross-site request forgery
- City preference — so "near me" works on your next visit
- Language preference (EN / हिन्दी / मराठी etc.)
These can't be disabled without breaking core functionality.
Analytics
- Anonymous feature-usage counts (which buttons are clicked most)
- Aggregated page view durations
- Device / browser class (mobile vs desktop)
Aggregated only — no personal identifiers. We use these to decide what to build next.
Third-party advertising
NONE USED- — none —
We don't run ad-tracking cookies on LocalSaathi. No Google Ads remarketing, no Facebook pixel, no cross-site retargeting.
3. How to manage cookies
Every modern browser lets you view, delete, and block cookies. The exact steps vary by browser — here are links to the current instructions:
4. Do Not Track signals
If your browser sends the Do Not Track (DNT) header, we respect it wherever feasible — we disable the analytics cookies and strip device classification. Strictly-necessary cookies still run since the site would otherwise break.
5. Changes to this policy
If we meaningfully change what cookies we use or how, we'll update this page and bump the “Last updated” date. Major changes (e.g. adding any new category beyond what's listed above) trigger an on-site banner the next time you visit.
